Deluge

Trembling leaves eavesdrop
on our tearful conversations
as the rain washes away our words,
swirling down the drain.

We seek shelter
in the archways of our friendship,
Holding hands and never minding
the eternal drip
that erodes and corrodes.

We never even say good-bye
in the sweeping deluge
that carries us where we go.
